  • One-fourth teaspoon ginger finely chopped
  • One fourth teaspoon whole cumin
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • A pinch of turmeric
  • One fourth teaspoon coriander powder
  • One fourth teaspoon garam masala
  • A quarter teaspoon red chili
  • Coriander chopped finely
  • Salt to taste

  • One day before making pinto beans, soak the pinto beans in the night. If you feel that the beans have not softened, then boil the beans for a while.

  • Add four to five teaspoons of water while stirring, so that the masala does not burn.
  • Now put tomato paste on top and stir well for a minute or two. Also add asafoetida.
  • Now add the soaked or boiled beans and add about two cups of water and cover it for a while until it boils well.
  • If you want to keep more gravy of pinto beans, then you can add half cup and water.
  • Cook the pinto beans for about another 10-15 minutes, so that the pinto beans and all the spices are cooked well.
  • Now remove the pan and sprinkle a pinch of hot spices over it and add finely chopped coriander for garnishing.

  • A cup of beans
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • Half lemon juice

  • First boil the pinto beans.
